I'm having trouble finding really great suggestions for Beginning Readers/Early Chapter books. I'm talking really strong, stand alone titles. I'm aware of the series - Judy Moody, Mercy Watson, etc.
This is kind of a shameless plug, but there is a great series by Picture Window Books called Katie Woo, written by Fran Manushkin. Each book (I think) stands on it's own really well and they are very sweet stories. www.capstonepub.com
