Found via: East Line Books
East Line is where I take my writing classes every Wednesday. Last week, I showed up a little early and began perusing the shelves. I ended up in the Biography section and this book caught my eye for obvious reasons. However, the reasons that caused me to hide the book away so that I could easily find and purchase it when I next have money were completely different. Well-written and poignant, this is an amazing look into the Civil Rights movement told by a comedian who wanted to give back to his community.
Purchase Now from Amazon: Nigger : An Autobiography
Interesting. This was not the book I was expecting to see here. A few years ago my husband read a book called "Nigger: A Short History of a Troublesome Word" and I figured your post would be a review of it. I'm not familiar with this one at all, so thanks for introducing me to it.
ReplyDeleteAmazon has this one as a 'Look Inside' title. You can read the first page - which is all I had to read before I was hooked. I'm going to the store today to pick it up. I can't wait to start reading it.
DeleteWhen I clicked on it, Amazon's preview was wrong, it just linked to the first three pages of Huckleberry Finn.
ReplyDeleteI'm extremely gullible, so I can't tell if this is a joke or not. I think it's a joke. Clever!
